As a school district, we are constantly striving to improve our system to better meet the needs of our community. One area of improvement that we identified was in the area of supporting our homeschool families. We are pleased to announce the opening of the Lake Pend Oreille School District Homeschool Academy. Below is some information about the program:

Lake Pend Oreille School District

Homeschool Academy

The Lake Pend Oreille School District Homeschool Academy was developed to provide educational and social enrichment for homeschool students of North Idaho. Students in this part time program learn through a blend of experiential learning, place-based study, and small group instruction.

The Homeschool Academy provides supplemental education for homeschool students in grades K-8.

We are currently building the schedule for the 2016-2017 school year. The outline is as follows:

Wednesdays: These are place-based study days. These field days will take place in “outdoor classrooms” all over Bonner County. Students will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful experiential learning activities. Please contact the teacher for more information regarding topics explored and places visited.

Thursdays and Fridays: These are classroom days. The following topics are being offered at this time:

·      Robotics

·      Culinary Arts

·      Introduction to Spanish

·      Keyboarding

·      Writing and Reflecting on Field Experiences

·      Fine Arts

·      Performing Arts

·      Academic Support
