#X IT CAN WAIT!

Lake Pend Oreille School District #84, with assistance from Idaho Transportation Department and the National Safe Routes to School program, is dedicated to increasing the number of students safely walking and bicycling to school. Our SRTS program receives federal reimbursement for local initiatives that make bicycling and walking to school a safer and more appealing option for kids.

This program is based on six simple concepts (6Es): Education, Encouragement, Engineering, Enforcement, Evaluation, and Equity. We are working toward enabling and encouraging more of our students to walk and bicycle to school. SRTS continues to collaborate with the City of Sandpoint and the City of Kootenai to improve the safety of children walking and bicycling to school. Furthermore, we will facilitate projects and activities that will reduce traffic, fuel consumption, and air pollution near LPOSD schools.
