LPOSD #84 Secondary School Counselors help all students:
Apply academic achievement strategies
Manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills
Plan for postsecondary options (higher education, military, work force)
We do this by providing:
Individual student academic planning and goal setting
College and career focused school counseling classroom lessons based on Idaho College and Career Readiness competencies
Short-term counseling to students
Referrals for long-term mental health support
Collaboration with families/teachers/ administrators/ community for student success
Advocacy for students at individual education plan meetings and other student-focused meetings
Data analysis to identify student issues, needs and challenges
Acting as a systems change agents to improve access to education, achievement and opportunities for all students

Sandpoint High School and Sandpoint Middle School are Sources of Strength schools.
The mission of Sources of Strength is “to prevent suicide by increasing help seeking behaviors and promoting connections between peers and caring adults.”
